Telling the Family?

Does anyone have any really good cute idea's on how to tell our family we are expecting? I was originally going to wait and tell everyone once we were past the first trimester, that would also give us the chance to tell them in person. My husband and I are both in the Military and stationed across the country from our family. But I had my first ultrasound on 7 Jul 2011 and the doc said the heart beat is so strong the chance of having a miscarraige is down to 3-5%. Which is great, and it give me the confidence to tell my family before the first trimester is over. I know there is still a chance that something could go wrong and we could loose the baby, but I just don't think I can keep this a secret any longer. My husband and I are going to be celebrating our 4 year wedding anniversary on Saturday and thought it would be the perfect time to call and tell the family!! I'm very excited and can't wait but I'm not sure how I should do it!?! I know my options are limited since we are so far away but I want this to be special and something we will all remember. I'm the youngest of 3 and my husband is an only child so this is a pretty big deal for everyone. So please if anyone has any ideas please share!!! I'm not sure what to do other than call them and just blurt it out!!!!!

Do you n your family skpe or however you spell it... lol if you do you could have the ultrasound pic in your hand and when you connect... you can have that up to when they start talking they see the pic...
I understand that you want to hear their reaction but you could make a picture frame wit the pic in it and the grandparent shirt too... n have them call you as soon as they get it b4 opening it....

I would find an outfit and send to grandma and grandpas to be that says grandma or grandpa on it but call and tell them you are sending a package and if possible have them call you as soon as they get it in there hands and then you can still hear their excitment.

Thank you for the congratulations! And the ideas! The bun in the oven is really cute! We will probably just call and tell them... I want to at least be able to hear their reaction and not have them call after already having that initial reaction. Oh well, hopefully next time we will be in person! Thanks again!

What about wrapping a baby item (pair of bootees) and giving that to them?

I sure wish I had some idea for you but I am a lot of things, but creative is not one of them.  Hopefully you will get some great ideas on here.  I have seen many but can't think of any off the top of my head....at least not w/ your situation being so far away and all.  Did you get an u/s picture that you might be able to scan and e-mail and maybe announce it that way?
