birth plan. do you have one?

I did not have one with my daughter, and although everything went great i feel i should have one this time. I read that nurses do not like the check box pre made birth plans so i plan to write one.
Do you have a birth plan?
What are some specific things you are requesting?

(id like to think mine through a lot so im looking for ideas)

I will definitely be writing:
Open to epidural, do not offer it unless im getting to dialated to receive one or it is the last call before anesthesiologist will be too busy too do one.
If im being induced, give me pitocin in smallest doses as possible and only in intervals every __minutes so my contractions will come on like a natural labor. (i read this somewhere.. I need to research what i can request)
I want skin on skin contact with my baby for at least one hour after birth. Do not wisk my baby away for any reason unless it is a medical emergency.

With my first they cleaned her and weighed her and did all this extra stuff and by the time they gave her back to me she was all wrapped up which is what really inspired my desire to have one this time. Just so they know i want my boy with me only in the first hour. Also i dont want them to give him any paci or formula. Thanks for answering! I didnt even think about his cord! I definitely want him to have his cord until i know he is breathing very well and what not. :)

You can put cord clamping request in it.

For the ladies who want to have a birthplan type in Google birthplan checklist . And go from there . When your in labor make sure you have that with you to give to your Dr. And they will follow your instructions as long as they can. But be aware that birthplans don't always go as planned. and things can go different.

This might sound dumb, but can you tell them NOT to put the baby on your belly as soon as the baby is born? I did that with my daughter, but I don't know if they would have followed it if she hadn't pooped before she was born..

You make it up yourself. You give it to your dr and then to hospital staff when you go into labor. Yes they follow it as long as they can.
I plan to have no medical intervention unless it is medically needed. Skin on skin contact and breastfeed right away. Delayed bathing. Delayed cord clamp and cut. Baby stays in the room at all times.

Who do you give these birth plans to? The people when you arrive or doctor beforehand? And do they even follow them?
