birthing classes

I'm 31 weeks and keep getting asked if I'm going to go to any birthing classes. I'm 18 and a ftm so I'm not sure if it's a good idea to go or if it'll freak me out more. What's your opinions?

I am 35+1 weeks and I keep getting asked about classes too. My mother in law is insisting my fiance and I go but I just think its unnecessary for me. I helped my single mom raise my siblings and I am very confident about raising my baby. I also think the classes that teach you how to breathe are a waste of time because every labor is different and everyone's pain tolerance is different. That breathing technique is going to go right out of the window. The only classes I've taken (which were free) are the ones that I thought I needed more coaching on such as a few breastfeeding classes, infant CPR, and my fiance did a daddy day camp which was nice lol they teach them how to be supportive and change diapers (:

My birthing class was awesome. Taught my husband really great massages for not only during the birthing process but when my back hurts or feet hurt on a normal pregnant day. I think they are totally worth it especially for ftp.

I took all the classes I could with my first. Nothing can prepare you for what is going to happen in the delivery room. After my daughter was born I regretted taking all of them except the car seat safety class. Nurses will help you with your birth, you can't plan for it every birth is different.

I'm 20 and a ftm. 35 weeks tomorrow and I haven't attended any classes and I don't plan on it. I'm sure they're very helpful, but I just felt like it wasn't for me. In my mind, once I go into labor I'm going to be thinking about nothing more than having my baby and him being healthy. I felt as though I wouldn't be worrying about what I learned in the class. Good luck with your decision :)

Check with the hospital you plan on having your baby at. I know the one I am delivering at offers free classes. I haven't taken one but I hear they are super helpful.

That's one reaso I'm questioning it is because it costs more money that I could save so I'm trying to decide but at time gets closer I question if I should take it or not.

I had my first at 19 without a birthing class. I did a bunch of reading up online though, I think they're extremely expensive. Baby is coming out one way or another and the doctor and nurses are extremely helpful I don't see much of a point.

In my classes the taught me how to breath correctly but they also taught me all the different kinds of labor u can have. The rightsu have as a patient. They also has a car seat specialist come in and teach us how to properly put a car seat in and the laws about car seats ect. And they had a nursing consultant come in and tech us about breast feeding and I learned a lot throughout the classes. I've herd people say everyone is born dumb and not knowing anything I will argue that point cuz what I learned from the class and the breast feeding consultant babies are very smart. I would recommend the class to everyone

Everything they teach you in something your body knows to do naturally.

I'm am 19 years old and 34 weeks and I am taking birthing classes to be prepared. I plan on having my daughter natural with no pain medicine and the classes teaches you pain management techniques. I also plan on breastfeeding her and they teach you how to breastfeed and how to latch the baby on correctly. I personally think it's a good idea.

Really all they teach you is how to breathe. I personally think they're a waste of time because taking them is not going to change the outcome of your labor and delivery. You never know what's gonna happen. I would just look anything up you need/want to know online.
