bleeding and pregnant?

So I had my period 29-5th yesterday I noticed I was bleeding maybe like a light period with bright red blood. It was still going on this morning so I went to the Er. The doctor had me pee in a cup and took some blood came in and told me I was pregnant I am ecstatic. But then I got so frightened I've never heard of bleeding during pregnancy but I do not know because this is my first child. We'll I got an ultrasound but they said nothing showed because I'm so early she did an exam and said my uterus is closed so its a good sign and some bleeding is normal. I have to wait until Tuesday to get my hcg levels tested. I'm just wondering if this bleeding is normal I really want this baby I'd be heartbroken if. I miscarried me and my husband have been trying for years. I was honestly beginning to think I would never have a child.
