I'm a teacher and two of my three pregnancies were planned strategically.  My first one, winter break started on December 22nd and my son was born the 26th, so I got a few days to rest before he was born.  With my second, the timing wasn't as good.  I was going to work up until my due date of October 8th, but I hurt my back chasing my toddler, so I stopped working about a week early.  She wasn't born until the 11th.  This time, my summer break started on June 13th, and I'm due on the 24th.  So I worked until close to the end with all of them.

I personally waited until I started do laying and didn't actually ask off. I told my manager I thought I was going to have my son that weekend and had him the next day at 37 weeks. I didn't end up going back though...

I understand how it feels to be on your feet all day - I'm a nurse. If I get more than two pee breaks in nine hours I'm thrilled - sitting down to eat is nearly unheard of. I don't see myself as deserving of any more breaks or any special treatment - I knew what would happen to my body and my stamina when my partner and I planned this pregnancy and we did it anyway. When I give birth I'll take time off to spend recovering and bonding - until then, as long as I'm healthy, I see no reason to sit around at home.

I was pulled out for medical reasons with my first a month before me due date but I plan on working until I can't anymore. I work at a coffee shop in a very busy mall so it is constant moving.

I went to 38 weeks last time before I was pulled for medical reasons by my midwives. Planning on going that long or longer this time around as long as baby and I are healthy. Everyone is different but I don't believe in treating pregnancy as an illness or a disability so I'm going to keep doing my job until I can't anymore.
