breast feeding...

When does your milk come in? I'm 40 weeks today FTM and I tried using my breast pump a few days ago for about 30 min and NOTHING came out...is this normal or is there something I can take to help??!!

It was very strange when my breasts were leaking, as soon as she would cry in the Hospital they would leak!

You do not begin to produce milk until 24-48 hrs after giving birth. What you are producing now is called colostrum, and even though it isn't coming out now doesn't mean it isn't going to. Pumping is a completely different concept to your body than a baby at your breast. The 2 things cause a different rush of endorphins from your baby, and just because pumping isn't producing anything doesn't mean that when your baby is there nothing will come out. Sometimes even post partum its difficult to pump instead of just feeding your baby directly from the breast, because baby feeding is what creates the demand to your brain for milk supply.
