Both my children were premature, I stayed the first 5 days, then had to leave, but drove an hour each way every day for a month, then when they were almost ready to come home I got to stay 5 days in the hospital with my baby in my room with me but still on monitors, then took baby home. They offered me to "rent a room" for $75 a night but that would be a very expensive month so I just drove there in the morning, stayed all day, then went home to sleep.
I really think it depends on the hospital if they have the room or not.. But it would be something to talk to your dr and to your hospital that way you have a better way of knowing
I just had my daughter at 28 weeks so she will be in the NICU for quite awhile I had a c section and preeclampsia and HELLP syndrome ... I stayed in the hospital for 4 days after she was born and I live an hour away from the hospital.. they have a Ronald McDonald house that you can stay in which is awesome.. maybe you should look into that :) it's incredibly hard being away from my baby
When My Godson Was Born His Mother Was Discharged After 3 Days But He Had To Stay A Total Of 10 Bc He Was Underweight And They Just Moved Her To Another Room For The Remaining 7 Days. It May Vary By Hospital Or Perhaps What Your Insurance Is Willing To Cover?
@whitney_g ya I would definitely still go down there daily if she had to stay
That's a good thing to ask thank u :) ill be asking my doctor in general
When my daughter was there, my Dr signed on an extra day but after that, I had to leave. My daughter was then transfered to a bigger nicu further away from me and all they offered was a family waiting room. I had to drive about two hours a day to go, but i went everyday she was in there.
I believe they have rooms for mom to stay in if baby is in NICU and mom has been discharged... At least my hospital does
