My friend gave me a car seat and it didn't come with the base so I was just gonna buy a base off Wal-Mart online but today I was looking at the car seat and it said not to use after December of 2014. Well that's when my bany is due. So should I buy another one or will it be ok to use even if it is expired?
I ordered my car seat stroller bundle from Walmart for 109$ . Amd considering their car seats are about 80$ and strollers themselves ate just as much it was CHEAP! the ones at meijer were even more expensive the ones I found were 100+ amd most were convertible Into bigger car seats not pumpkin seats..
Lol I was able to take everything off it to wash even the straps but I didn't know it was expired I just wanted to know what u moms thought and I think I'm going to just get a new one thanks ladies.
U can not used a expired carseat. I personally dont use them even used not expired. Nevrr know if theyv been in accidents or the straps washed. Deffinately would never use a carseat that old anywaya lol
Get a new car seat. However if you can save this one. Toys r us has an annual sale in early spring I believe, where you trade in your used stuff regardless of expiry date for 2n5% off your large baby item purchase. I have done this for the next size carseat, a jumparoo, exersaucer, or high chair.....
I had babies in two states and in both states it is illegal to use expired car seats. They would not let us take our baby home till they checked the date and that our seat was not on recall list and it did not look damaged.

You can go to your local public health nurse and get a new one for free. If you don't know where that is call DSS(medicaid/food stamps)/police station/cps and ask. Most towns have a place to get new seats. All you have to do is tell them your due date and you have an expired seat with no money to buy a brand new one and they will give one to you

Its illegal to use an expired seat in many states as most states are proper use. You definitely need to get a new seat for baby.
Saving money is important, but not when it comes to your child's safety or health. You can save money in so many other areas, but buying a new carseat would be the smartest investment.
Ok thanks ladies. I was thinking to just buy a new one. Just have to talk my fiance into it. He sees it as it's in good condition so it can be used and we would save money.
They advise not to use a expired carseat. But there isn't a law saying you can't. Just make sure it's in good condition and nothing is recalled on it.
Nope you should never use one if its expired or has been in a car accident. A lot of hospitals won't even let you take the baby home if its expired. Its best just to get a new one. They sell carseat/stroller combos at Walmart online for pretty cheap.
