cat owners

Are you or were you concerned about your cat snuggling with the baby? We've had the bassinet in our room for a week now and I just caught my cat laying in it. This is the first time but now that she has discovered it she only wants to sleep in there. She likes snuggling with me at night near my face and I'm worried she'll do it with the baby too. Did any of you cat owners have this issue when you brought your babies home? I'm due in 17 days

We've had our bassinet in our room since July, and I'm due in 11 days. Our kitty hasn't explored it, but she is quite the cuddler. She's 19 years old so I know she wouldn't intentionally do anything. When baby moves to his own room we are just going to keep his door shut but while he is in our room just to keep an eye on it....she usually sleeps above our heads.

Thanks ladies! I'll just keep scolding her. Or I'll just keep her out at night, don't want to risk anything with my baby

I actually have all of my baby's stuff in my room and trained him not to go into my room just because idk how the baby will react to the cat such as if she'll be allergic. I've had her stuff set up like her bathtub is in the bathroom and when he goes in there he knows not to go near or in it. Maybe have some places be off limit to him just to be safe since babies are so sensitive.

The best thing for you to do is scold the cat every time you see her in the bassinet so that she knows shes not supposed to be there....

I have a cat and I worry about the same thing.  My cat doesn't snuggle with anyone,  but I'm afraid she'll be curious once baby is here. I really would hate to lock her out of my room ((where baby will sleep for a couple months)) but I don't want to risk anything.
