tattoo and breastfeeding

I want to get my baby name tattooed on my body.. can I still get it tattooed even if I'm gonna breast Feed or I can't?

Talked to a tattooist and he said that the ink will not get into your milk at all, but he told me that I should wait 6 months to a year for my body to heal. And he said that he refuses anyone who recently had a baby within 4-5 months if trying to get a tattoo. I want one too, but I'm listeningng to him and waiting 9 months.

Not sure. I know some of the ink gets into your blood stream, but whether it gets into your milk or not Idk. I would ask your obgyn/midwife and/or call around to pediatricians/la leche league until you get an answer.

Best to wait until after she's done breast feeding!

Infections can enter your body through tattoos and could enter your blood stream! Maybe not your milk idk but that's not something id risk when it comes to baby!

My husband used to be a tattoo artist until we had our kids and so I know a lot about what can happen to your body if tattoos go wrong!

I also know that your body needs time to heal from having baby so getting a tattoo slows down that process because your body has to focus on healing one or the other! So that gives the tattoo time to set up infection if it's a slow healing process!!
