DR wants to terminate, advice please!!!

I posted the other day but i've heard nothing so far. i had a follow up with an ob today and he said that with numbers of 3111 i should see something in the trasvaginal scan, but we saw nothing. I O'd late... so im 5 weeks 2 days. the OB said that it must be ectopic and he wants to treat with MTX. i have noooo pain or bleeding. i had an ectopic in my other tube last year and it was removed i know what it felt like, i had alot of left side pain... this time there is no pain. i asked the DR to wait for thursday for my scheduled scan but he insisted that we do the scan tomorrow... ijust had the last scan that showed nothing yesterday morning...! so anyway tomorrow evening we are doing another scan an he says if there is nothing again its ectopic and we need to treat with MTX right away. i have heard that with a tipped uterus the sac can be at the top and hard to locate with an ultrasound... also the DR that did my fist scan said before he even did the scan 5 weeks maybe to early to see anything at all... so im lost. i feel like im being pressured into doing the MTX and i am not convinced this isectopic. i feel like there is a chance it is hiding and or has jsut not made his appearance? any advice at all is helpful, thanks

It sounds like this doctor thinks he God's gift to medicine. And if he is that cocky and confident I would definitely go to someone else. My dad is a doctor  and he says "we are not always good at telling you what is wrong but we can tell you what is not wrong." this guy thinks he knows everything. And he should not risk a life of an unborn child to his ego. Get a second opinion!!!!

read my journals and my success stories! do not do it! i went in on july 20th 09 and my doc didnt see anything either. going by lmp i was 6 weeks 4 days. i did tell him i feel i ovualted later than normal because i took a test 1st and 3rd of july and they came out neg. if i had conceived normal time a positive would have shown by then. i didnt get a positive until 9 july 09. even i could have figuered that all out and noe i must have ovualted late. anyway, on my july 20 scan we didnt see anything! not even a sac! no baby or nothing. he was so certain i was going to miscarry and wanted to do a dc right away! i opted not to, went in for a second opinion day after and there was my sac and feotal pole! am not 14 weeks 4 days preggo with the same baby he said i was going to lose. wait it out! best of wishes and tons of baby dust to you!! :)

I just had a scan yesterday and i measured 6 weeks 2 days.  we did not hear a heartbeat. doctor couldn't be for sure if he saw anything or not.  Doctor thought that was just fine!!!

5 weeks is too early!!!  the doc said he had been doing it for 70 years???!!!  70 years???  hat is he like 90-95 years old???  maybe he is blind, deaf and set into some old ways.

I dont plan to "go against the doctor" what i do plan to do is get another opinion. this DR has not given my any options and i have read on several reasonsons as to why this could happen. i of all people know the sevarity of the situation, but like i said im not in any pain, and i dont have any bleeding. so im going to wait to see what i can do other than just go with what this particulare dr is saying. after TTC for 2 years i have to explore other options and possibilities.

5 weeks is too early.  I would wait 2 more weeks and have another ultrasound.  But, if you feel similar pains like you did with your eptopic pregnancy, seek medical help.  Good luck.  I hope everything works out for the best.

Just go with your gut feeling. Everything points to you thinking that you have a healthy baby inside you. Our intuition is almost always right so stick with it!! Def get a second opinion or if you stay with this doctor...don't let him force you or talk you into doing anything you don't want to do. Good luck and I hope everything goes well for you!!

Dont be stupid and go against a doctor. They are teh specialist. Its liek when people dont take all of their perscription because they feel better. If you really dont think its right what hes doing, get an opinion form another doctor. Dont decide for yourself what is best.

thanks so much, your thoughts mean alot :) the fact that they didnt see anything until your 8.5 week scan makes me wonder why this doctor is so eager to jump the gun. he seemd very confused as to why im not in any pain or bleeding. but that didnt sway him one way or the other. i'll keep my fingers crossed for this scan to show something but if it doesnt im not going to do the shot. i will not do anything without any proof, i will get a second opinion. :)thank you guys so much :)

I just wanted to add, that with my blighted ovum, they gave me a prescription for a pill to help move things along. I didnt want to take it and just let nature take it's course. They said that was fine, and I miscarried on my own. Its safe to do that aslong as you dont have any poor symptoms. Your doctor sounds like a big idiot and I would not see him again! Don't be forced into anything. Check out misdianosed miscarriages.com I found alot of post uplifting on there. Some woman didnt see their babies until 11 weeks.
You in  my prayers

Please dont do it! I was in a similar situation, my hcg was well over 9000 when we did my first scan at 5 ish weeks, then another was done in the 11000 range, both times there was nothing seen. It took me until 8.5 weeks when we finally seen our little girl.
They had mentioned a blighted ovum, which I had suffered from only 4 months before.
On both of the earlier scans they only were able to see a sac, no fetal pole or yolk sac.
As for the eptopic they ruled me out with the ultrasound, as they had thought that too.

5 weeks is to early! Dont do it! I went to the hospital at 5w2d and they did an ultrasound. My hcg was over 10,000 and they did not see a fetal pole so she tried to tell me I was going to lose the baby. All they seen was the sac. 2 days later I went to another hospital and they again just seen the sac but the doc said... its to early to see much more then that. So no worries okay? tell your doc that I SAID to kiss my.... you know. lmao. Dont do it if YOU dont want to. Its not the doc's decision. its yours. Dont forget that.

thank you all for your posts :) I am at fort hood too awalone... i talked to tricare and they told me i can request an off post referral if im not being treated right, or i can switch to standard but would pay 15% of my first visit a co pay for the ultrasound appointment and 15% of labor and delivery. so IDK  yet. im going to have the scan today but i dont think much has changed from sundaynight monday morning (it was like 4am when i had the first scan) so if everything is the same then i'll just get a second opinion. i dont even want to hear what this doctor has to say. he is also the same DR that said i had POF with an FSH of 10.3 and needed IVF with donor eggs. so i never did care for him.

If you are not comfortable with it, I urge you to refuse.  Get a second opinion...go to another OBGYN.  If you aren't having bleeding or pain then I really think you need to INSIST that you wait longer....this is YOUR Body....those doctors are there for YOU not the other way around.
