Reddish/purpleish color in Vulva area

Yesterday my fiance was helping me shave my legs, and he noticed that my vulva area was more purpleish and reddish. I cannot see down there because of the baby belly, but he said it looked very bruised. I thought it might because of poor circulation, but I am also having terrible pains in the surrounding areas of my vulva and labia. My doctor checked it out when I went last Monday and said everything looked okay, and that it could get worse, but I am unsure of the purple/red color was there or not. Does anyone know what can cause it or how to make it better?

It's okay. I was just asking so that way when I went into labor I wouldn't be shocked with a c-section lol. I plan on giving birth vaginally, so hopefully everything goes okay. I go back to the doctor on Monday and I am going to have her check everything out again just to be safe.

No this was an elected C section, i was just saying that just cause a vaginal delivery can cause a bit of tenderness after in a totally different way lol and obviously the csection wouldnt affect that area... sorry if i worried you... i should have explained that better...

Google symphasis pubic dysfunction in pregnancy. But yes the color and pain are normal and will subside after baby is born.  Ironically I noticed the discoloration in mine when my husband was helping me shave too, lol.  I started referring to my lady bits as "the old hag " because that purplish color is so unappealing haha. I'm only 26 and it looks fine other than that coloring and it DEFINITELY doesn't bug hubby so it's just a joke..can't wait til it gets back to normal lol. I'm almost 36 weeks so not much longer!  Anyway I have SPD (the dysfunction I recommended you Google ) and it can cause crippling pelvic and pubic pain..but does fade after delivery. I've delivered twice before vaginally with SPD and had quick recoveries with no lasting issues and no need for cesaerean. You should talk to a chiropractor who specializes in pregnancy if the SPD sounds like it might apply to you.

Did they say anything about that causing her to have a C-section or was it something different?

When I went last time she checked for Varicose veins, but there wasn't any. I know I have been having moving lately. If I lay still, I am okay, or if I sit and stand still I am fine, but as soon as I move my legs I get a terrible pain in my Labia area. It is to the point where I can't even move at time. The doctor said it would either get worse, or it could get better, but she emphasized on the worse part :( Also the baby feel very low. I'll be 31 weeks on the 7th and she moves under my belly. Normally it was in my tummy area, but now she is only moving under my belly where it connects to the front pelvic area. Really low. Is that normal for 31 weeks?

Its very common and is called the chadwicks sign... its caused by estrogen/increased blood flow which causes a blueish purpleish color... it can also be accompanied by swelling form the increased blood flow or vericose veins... all common during pregnancy... but always like any changes that you notice should be talked about with your Dr :)

PS i know you already told your Dr but for anyone else that may read this :)

The color could be extra blood flow to that area, but you can always call your doctor to be sure.
