contraction relief

I'm in my 38th week almost 39th and I am having painful contractions, I want to wait to go to the hospital but these are very intense. Does anybody have any tips on making it more bearable? I'm currently laying on the floor on pillows with my back facing a heater which seems to help a little.

I have definitely been emptying my bladder lol I can't seem to stay away from the bathroom. I just don't want to go in again and have them tell me I haven't progressed enough to stay and to go home and get rest. But I will go in if they continue to be as intense as they are later in the day. I woke up at 5:00 this morning and didn't get back to sleep until about 6:30 because of them. I actually forced myself to sleep. So if they continue all day then I'll probably go get checked out.

My doctor just tells me to lay on my left side, continue to drink water, and make sure your bladder is contiously emptied. I know it doesnt help much but between that and breathing through them they get a little more bearable. If they keep happening though you should go in. Last time I got them I was able to stop them eventually but if you start to panic and forget the breathing part they can seem more intense. Good luck!
