could i be getting my period only 4 weeks after giving birth

well my bleeding was stopping from giving birth and then this morning when i woke up my bleeding was bright red again and heavy...i called my doctor and she said it could be that my period started. is that true?

yeah it turned dark brown like it was going to stop and then last night and today it started to get heavy again and bright red

More than likely, it's your menstrual. I had stopped bleeding a week after giving birth, spotted some the following week, and two weeks later got my menstrual. According to my OB, alot of people will get their's during the healing process and not realize it. That's why alot of people get preggo like 2.2 seconds after having their first one. LOL. If you were seeing the blood before turn dark like it's just the release of the rest of the old blood then all the sudden it's bright and heavy again, it's going to be your menstrual and that means it's time to start looking into some bc! BUT don't use a tampon. Keep doing your sitz bath and use a pad. Tampons or anything inserted there is gonna be bad juju before your postpartum check and getting the clear from the OB/ Midwife.

are you breastfeeding?
If you are then it's pretty unlikely - though I guess maybe possible.
