My sister used some type of cortisone and put it in her hair before her bath and get like a little tooth brush brush it and rinse it out in the tub at least every other day it's very normal
When my son had it I put neosporan ND it went away pretty fast
Wash it good, put baby oil on it and use a soft baby brush to brush the top of baby's head. It may take a while but it will eventually go away. They have special cradle cap lotion and shampoo but it really is a waste of money. Baby oil and soft brush really is best just remember to wash often washing really helps get rid of the flaky skin. If you take baby to the Dr or hospital they will laugh and think you are a nutball. It is nothing and lots of babies get it.
I didn't know it was cradle cap at first thought of all kinds of skins things like eczema I'm going too try the oil
I agree allipiesmommy that the hospital is not needed for cradle cap, it's only a cosmetic thing that won't harm the baby, and a soft brush during shampooing on the scalp will loosen it and wash it off.
I don't think Johnson's makes it worse - sure the #1producer of baby shampoos would have addressed this problem a generation ago if their shampoo made this common condition worse. Cradle cap isn't dandruff, it's dermatitis, so dandruff shampoos aren't needed.
Johnsons baby soap/shampoo will make it worse if that's what your using.
The hospital is not needed for cradle cap, use a little baby oil and a soft brush twice a day. Selsum blue dandruff shampoo works great also. 99% of the time they grow out of it, my daughter is 2 and has had it since she was a nb. Now that her hair is longer we have needed kids detangler spray daily to brush her hair and its actually making the flakes loose and come off
And I don't know exactly what it is or why it happens babies just get it
Yes its just really flaky sitting right on her scalp and in the back only shampoo I ever used was what I was sent home with from the hospital
Is it just really flaky? I've been told massaging in oil and brushing with a baby comb can help. But all you can really do is wait for them to grow out of it. If it's bleeding it's likely eczema and needs to be treated.
