dental work

I'm a ftm and I have been having tooth aches SO bad. My dentist said I need a root canal and I need to get a cavity filled. And also get my wisdom teeth taken out. My first doct appt is Monday so I plan on asking her but I was just wandering if anyone else has had this type of work done while they were pregnant. I don't want it to effect the baby.

I had some fillings done and had to have a wisdom tooth out cause it was infected but they stop doing dental work after a certain point in your pregnancy cause they don't want to trigger something to make you go in to preterm labor. It should be fine. Just let your dentist know you're pregnant.

**They didn't want to do the root canal because they we're worried it would be too stressful for me to handle.

I got my teeth cleaned, and fillings because I had cavities, and they placed like some white paste over my big cavity. I forgot what it's called but because they we're worried that the procedure would to stressful for me. They didn't want to risk it. I was 27wks. After the paste they places over my cavity is been so much Better no pain

DON'T DO IT. You will NEED pain meds after and you CAN'T take them. Plus, they have to put you under. You absolutely cannot. The dentist will tell you to get approval from your doctor, but trust me, don't do it no matter what.

I had a cavity and my ob told me to get it fixed. So at 18wks I had a local anesthetic and a filling. Now 35wks. I would get it done because the pain is only going to get worse and like the above said now is not the time to be fighting infection. Good luck!

Just make sure you tell your dentist that you are pregnant before the procedures and he should know what is and isn't safe. You can ask your doctor ahead of time as well just to be safe

I don't know for sure why they want to do the wisdoms right now, unless they are impacted and infected.  But it is a great idea to get rid of any cavities and certainly if you need a root canal, do it.  Infection from the teeth is very bad for a person's whole body, and doubtless worse when pregnant because it affects the little one also.
