With out an ultrasound

Are Dr's able to figure out the babys weight or the babys position? I only get one ultrasound my whole pregnancy unless necessary because of my insurance and I had it at 20 weeks. So just curious if they're able to tell this stuff with out an ultrasound? Or how can they tell if there's enough amniotic fluid? I just don't get how they know everything's okay with out an ultrasound lol

Sorry my phone posted half way thought...

Your midwife will measure your tummy, and feel around, if your measurements are what they should be then that's great, if your measuring small or big then they may offer you extra scans (growth scans) to monitor babies growth. There isn't really anyway for them to know for sure without ultrasounds but they do have ways of checking. (As regards to babies weight, even on an ultrasound that's an estimate and isn't as accurate as you would think).

In the UK they don't give you ultrasounds after 20 weeks, unless there is something wrong or they want to monitor you closely.
