Probably at your next appointment some start at 36 weeks I got checked last Tuesday at 37 but if they don't I'm sure u can ask them to
They started checking me around 37 weeks
I started getting checked at 36 weeks.
Some drs don't start checking until you get contractions.
It isn't necessary. It doesn't tell you anything useful and it doesn't tell them anything either. You can be 3cm dilated for six weeks or go from 0-10cm in four hours. Knowing where you're at before active labor starts isn't going to make a difference. Also, it can increase the risk of irritation to your cervix, making it swell, which SLOWS dilation. It could even give you an infection which is NOT something you want to have when you're planning to give birth soon. If I had a doc who did it routinely, I'd ask them not to - the risk isn't worth the benefit.
