Mom's on 2nd+ baby...

How did you tell your children they were getting a baby brother or sister? They understand? What things did you get for them to help understand? Books? Movies?

Lol I loved reading all of your stories! I am excited to get bigger so my daughter will understand move and hope she wants to feel baby move.. The x's daughter didn't really care to feel my stomach when I was pregnant but I tried getting her excited by getting baby doll stuff for her..

Lol I have a three year old girl, 8 years old boy, and 12 year old girl. When we had our reveal party and saw that the inside of the cake was pink. He stood up asked if he could go to bed and left the party. He was sooo disappointed that he was getting another sister. :) when he got up the next morning he was still sad but asked if he could have ice cream for breakfast. Of course I said yes, sometimes only ice cream can make it better. I'm 29 weeks now and he's gotten used to the idea of another sister.

My son is about to be 3 in 2 months. I have been trying to get him ever since i found out. I took him to the ultrasound so we all be there when we found it the sex. So he was enjoying watching the baby moving around then i asked what the sex was. The dr and the tech said a girl. He said no more tv and pushed his daddy in front of him to block the tv ever since he wants nothing to do with the baby. He says no baby. I think it is so cute.

My daughter will be three and a half when I have this one too I just told her there's a baby in my tummy and showed her the pictures of when I was pregnant with her and said she use to be in my tummy and then came out. Id ask if I was having a boy or a girl and at first shed say a boy but then further on she kept saying its a girl then at 18 weeks I found out I was having a girl and were naming her aurora and she says its princess aurora. Oh yea and when I was really sick with morning sickness she'd always say the babies making u sick? I know she doesn't know how the baby got in there but she knows she's in there

My kids are aged 4,3, and 18 months. We told them I was pregnant around 16 weeks and took them with us to the doctor a few times. We explained the sound of the baby heartbeat and encourage them to feel her moving. We also delegated telling people the babies name to them, so they can decide if they want to share it or not. I am due in two weeks and the two older kids talk constantly about the baby and when she will arrive. Even the youngest will pat my belly and check the bassinet for the baby.

My son is 18 months old. He doesn't really understand but he loves to play with my belly the bigger it gets. lol. I always tell him that mommy has a baby in her belly and he'll pull my shirt up and say "baby". I think it's so cute and it almost makes me think he understands but then he pulls his shirt up pints at his belly and says "baby" lol.

My daughter is 5. We made a game of it; we didn't tell her but we also didn't hide it from her. She came with us for my first OBGYN appointment but was in lala land. Then one day in the bath she asked if I was going to have a baby. So I told her. We used to breed goats so she already knew about sperm from daddy combining with mommy's egg. She doesn't know what sex is yet, nit exactly, but she knows I have cells dividing in me, which are growing into a baby. She lives looking at 3d sonograms on the computer, and she us going to take a copy of my ultrasound which I am getting tomorrow for show and tell.

If your kids sense your nervous about the introduction they will feed off of it. And think there must be a reason to be nervous.

I neved made a big deal of it.  As soon as i found out i just said Mommy has a baby in her belly!  Your gonna be a great big sister! I just said it excitedly.  Dont make it sound like a serious possibly scary thing. My daughter turned 2 thirteen days before my son was born. Now on my third my daughter is 3 and i told hsr again and she just says she loves the new baby and is going to be a good big sistdr again.

My children are 5, 7 & 10. I showed them the scan picture and let them work it out! It took a few minutes and they had lots of questions but were really happy! My eldest has been asking a lot of questions about the birth, which made them all interested so I showed them a couple of calm birthing videos. They've also been helping to pick things for the baby in shops. We also watch the week by week baby development videos together which they love! My daughter won't let me eat anything slightly resembling junk food and my youngest has become very clingy. My youngest doesn't understand that there is no way of knowing when the baby will arrive and asks every morning, is baby brother coming today? Lol

We sat our 4 year old down and said we needed to talk to her. We told her that we were going to have a baby and she was like when? lol.. I said well, it's in mommy's tummy right now! He'll be here in the stinger time. When it's time to go swimming again! She goes, really? I don't see a baby in your tummy. I told get around mommys bday you'll be able to feel him in there and now she's always cleaning our being helpful and says, "I'm big sister now I can do it" lol.. It's cute. She asked how it got in there and I told her that jesus helped us out because he wants our family to grow and left it at that!

My daughter understands the big sister part and can't seem to make up her mind on if she wants a baby brother or sister.. I am hoping for another girl.. She will be 3 1/2 when baby comes. But I don't think she understands where babies come from. I tell her there's a baby growing in mommy's tummy and she says 'mine too!' Lol..    @tattoomommy sorry to hear. And must have been hard on him being that old and understanding more than younger children would. Now he's getting a 2 for 1 in way.. Lol
