Your baby has plenty of time to turn! My baby was breech until 36 weeks. We had an ultrasound at that time to confirm he was head down and he had turned on his own, as most babies do. Your doc will probably schedule an ultrasound around your 36th or 37th week to determine fetal positioning (feeling around the outside is not the best way to predict position, even by an experienced doctor) - if he/she doesn't, I highly suggest you request one. You can also try some other ways to get baby to turn - google and you'll find lots of info. I decided against getting an external version, but that is a procedure you can try if you're full term and baby is still breech.
Your doctor most likely won't schedule a c-section until after your 37th week if the only reason for having one is due to the breech positioning of the baby, based on the fact that it is highly likely that baby will turn on his/her own - less than 5% of babies don't turn by the time they're full term. I know how uncomfortable and, well, miserable it gets towards the end of pregnancy, but I have to urge you not to schedule one for before 40 weeks, because the very best place for your baby is inside you!!!
I had a c-section because my baby was a week overdue, hadn't dropped/engaged, no dilation or anything... and was measuring 10.5 pounds on ultrasound. Thank goodness I did because he came out at 11 pounds 1 oz. and, as my doctor said, "was nowhere even near your cervix"!! I waited until my 40th week to schedule the c-section. I got a phone call on Thursday 9/25 from my doctor's office, and scheduled the birth for two days later on 9/27. We went in that morning at 8AM and at 10:30AM I was holding my son. :) It was a wonderful experience!!
If this is your first baby, they will wait till about 37 weeks, because usually babies turn by that time. If you've have a previous c-section they schedule it earlier
I would think they would try to turn the baby, but they wont schudle until you are 37 weeks because they want to see if the baby will turn on their own. You can def et on his case but it will prolly be a bit! Good Luck!
Since my last two pregnancies were c-sections this one will be too. When I saw my Dr. at 9 weeks he said "If I operate on a Monday it will be 4 May, if I operate on the Friday it will be 8 May" so those are my two dates scheduled at 9 weeks.
With my son, I was around 32-34 weeks when it was scheduled. He kept thinking that the baby would turn but it didin't. With my daughter, I knew the whole pregnancy that I was going to have a section. I would ask almost every visit when we were going to schedule it. It was around 34 weeks before he gave me a date. I just kept hounding him about it.
When my daughter was breech they waited until 37 weeks to see if she would turn since all but like 3% of babies will turn by the 38th week. Well she didn't turn so they gave me 2 options... I could get a external cephalic version (where they turn the baby from the outside) or I could wait until the week I was due and get a c-section. Most doctors dont like to do c-sections unless they have to so there is a good chance they will have you wait it out until the end and then schedule one if she still doesn't turn.
hun im 24 weeks and i already have my scheduled. they are takin it at 38 weeks but thats only cause this is my 4th c section but if all is good thay usually dont take it to 39 weeks but all drs are different ya know
