I have nothing worth sticking around for here and I'm not really about paid leave. I basically just have a job I've had since highschool and it's time for me to do better for my family. and if they don't let me come back then atleast I have experience in something other than food service ya know?
thanKS for all the advice tho I was hoping I'd be okay to find a job and accept it if I was still early in the pregnancy
Just be careful I was fired from my job once they found I was pregnant.
It depends on how long you've been with your current employer and what kind of benefits you currently have. If you start a new job now, your job will not be protected by FMLA while you are on leave - they have no legal requirement to offer you the same position when you come back if you've been employed less than a year.
Also, almost no employer will offer short-term disability to cover a maternity leave if you've had that coverage for less than nine calendar months when you give birth, many places actually have a twelve month waiting period. So depending on where you're working now, it might mean the difference between being paid 60-80% of your normal paycheck for the time you're out... or getting paid nothing at all.
I strongly considered leaving my job early in my pregnancy. But the benefits, including my excellent health insurance that has covered almost every prenatal care expense with no copays, was worth sticking around for.
Depending on the job they can fire her
I wouldn't even mention I'm pregnant till after you're hired, they can't fire you.
I would look for a job asap cause even though its illegal, employers still sometimes wont hire a woman if shes pregnant.
Probably a good idea to find a job while you can.
sorry for all the typos I was typing in a hurry!
