Had one with my first that didn't really work as it only numbed the left side of my stomach. Could feel contractions on my right, all in my back, vagina and my legs. They didn't put the needle in right and they put a hole in my spinal cord which they didn't realize and my spinal fluid was leaking out for 2 weeks until they realize what had happened. I was completely bedridden as I couldnt sit or stand without feeling like I was going to vomit/faint, was so tired, bad headache and hated light (very similar to a horrible migraine). I needed another epidural needle inserted into my back and my own blood drawn and put in to block the hole. So not a great experience.
Second time round I didn't get one just gas and air and I felt like a completely different person, I enjoyed labor and the weeks after as I wasn't a groggy mess.
What happened to me with an epidural occurs in 1 out of 100 women who get epidural
My son is a week old and it worked for me during labor but it has side effects which I'm suffering with now extreme headaches and backaches. If I could deal we with pain I would do without but I couldn't. My first child is 8yrs old. I had one with him and suffered extremely with my back afterwards. This is only my experience with it others are different.
I got the epidural with my daughter and I slept thru everything until they woke me up and told me it was time to push lol she came out ten minutes later and recovery wasent even that bad.. I will definitely be getting an epidural with this baby too :)
Im against it unless its needed. There are women who can not relax during labor as in they fight their body to much so they dont progress and it can relax them to help them progress but other than that nope.
I would do your own research. It depends on what you want. I would watch the business of being born on netflix it helped me my last pregnancy
I had one with my first, I didn't get it until I was 5 cm because I was trying to dilate fast then get it but I was induced. I ended up not making it past 6 cm but that was because during my pregnancy my hips didn't spread. But I loved my epidural i didn't even feel my contractions with it.
Never ever. No needles are going anywhere near my spine. I have a high pain tolerance and have had 2 natural births without it.
with my first I got the epidural it only worked half my body & I could still feel a lot. I'm gonna get another one this one to. I can't stand pain
It worked wonderful for me I did not feel a thing I was sleeping the whole time but now my back be hurting
