epidural or no epidural?

Which is better, as far as pain goes, for the labor part. Having an epidural or not getting the epidural, but getting the pain shot in your IV that makes you loopy?

I had the same thing as kmartin730 . I couldn't feel my legs. It was so weird. But my nurses reassured me it was totally normal. My epidural really helped me. Kudos to moms who do it all natural! Everyone knows labor is painful, you're not a bad mother if you are scared of the pain or if you get an epidural. (:

I couldn't feel anything with the epidural, but they gave me the option of when to "top it up" in case I started feeling more. I chose to let it wear off a bit when it was close to time to push so that I could feel the urge to push and it went fine. I didn't feel pain during the contractions but I felt when she was crowning and the stiches afterwards. It wasn't too bad though.

I delivered a 10 pounds little boy all natural, as my body had adverse reactions to medication, I'm due in May I think I might ask for the epidural

Ive had 2 boys with just gas and air it is extremely painful but just about manageable. With my second I was begging for an epidural but no one was free to administer 1... im glad I couldnt get it cus recovery time is much quicker.  I wud recommend gas and air though as it helped me control my breathing when the pain hot too much.

Ok....no need for rude comments. It was just a question. If you can't answer nicely, don't respond. That simple!

Women are made to give birth. All women know labour is going to hurt, I don't understand why women get pregnant knowing it's going to hurt during labour then moan about pain control. (Not saying you are)

I went all natural. My sister got the medicine that goes in the iv and said she still felt the contractions

I got the pain shot but when my labor progressed that pain shot did not work at all!  So you should get the epidural  its a life savor you feel no pain and you can just sleep and get comfortable until your ready to push . But it does make the pushing a little bit harder

I didn't feel anything at all with the epidural and it doesn't hurt at all to get it .

While obviously having an epidural makes it less painful, otherwise people wouldn't get them. That's the point of it.
