It's a personnel choice and depends on your pain tolerance.
I do plan on getting it.
I know my pain tolerance and it's low lol
I think I want one..I was planning on seeing hw far I cn go but lately I've been having contractions in my back n its only a taste of labor..lol I'm good I want to be doped up:)
I want to have an epidural but I'm nervous because my mom said she had an epidural and her blood pressure dropped and it was horrible. I hope that's a rare thing.
i LOVEDDDDD IT!! did wonders for me. yes it was a pinch of pain at first but then u feel NOTHING. makes things so much easier. kinda weird tho not being able to move your toes or legs lol but do what u feel is best:))
It's all personal preference, one thing to think about us how well your pain tolerance is. I did all natural and honestly it wasn't all that bad. I mean it was nothing fun but my experience was better than some I know that had an epidural. Everybody reacts to medicine differently, and weather the medicine had time to set in before labor begins. Mt thing was I was more frightened of the huge thing that goes in your spine than anything. But I plan on going all Natural again because it only last a short time and when it's over its over all the pain is gone (: just do what you think is right for your body and you're baby
I loved my epidrual. Also, if you have to get an emergency c section and you already have an epidural in they don't have to put you to sleep. I got to be awake during my emergency section and see my baby right after he was born.
I chose not to get an epidural. I had a few doses of fentaynl that wore off before I even started pushing, so I felt everything. It hurts, but its really worth it.
I agree, it's a personal decision. I think if you are unsure, you should try to hold off getting one for as long as you can take the contractions, ask to see how dilated you are at that point, and then decide if you can wait it out that much longer. For example, with my first, I was only 6cm when they got terrible, so I opted to get one because I knew it would take a lot longer. With my second, I was going to ask for it, and found I was already 9.5cm, so I just waited it out since it was almost time to push. You really won't know how long you can handle them until you are in that situation.
Honestly, my epidural was awesome. After they broke my water the contractions got intense! It wasn't that I couldn't handle the pain, but more that they have modern medicine, doesn't hurt the baby...why the heck not?? If you are scared of needles just don't look...I didn't and honestly, the pinch was nothing compared to the pain of my contractions. I say do it.
If you are skiddish with needles, you may be against it. I remember being so afraid when they put mine in that my blood pressure went through the roof. And after that, it didn't even work on half of my body so I felt the whole thing anyways. I noticed that it took me a lot longer to heal than my first pregnancy (which was natural).
Its a personal decision and one you should make once you've experienced contractions just because you never know how your going to handle them. You never know you may handle them way better then you think and won't want one or you may not be able to handle them and choose to have one there's no right answer or one that makes you a better mom. I chose to have one because I coykdbt handle the contractions and my body wouldnt relax and progress so it was either the epidural worked relaxed my body and I could vaginally deliver my baby or I'd have to have a c-section ....I could never have made that decision with out going through it
Its more of a personal decision and how well you tolerate pain. I chose to go all natural.
Personal experience . I had one with my son at 9cm lol..it was just too much intense pressure for me to deal with. I had him less than an hour after they placed it and I felt no pain during delivery.
Its personal decision.
I had one because it was epidural or be put asleep for section. It was fine for me but your best to ask your dr
