stress and blood sugar

Is it true that stress raises blood sugar? The only reason I'm asking is because when I was in the hospital they diagnosed me with GD but they also gave me a lot of carbs to eat at breakfast. And I was very stressed out because that was the second time I was in the hospital. The week before when I first went to the hospital they took my blood and didn't say anything about it....I think I'm wrongfully diagnosed because they put me on insulin didn't give me a chance to lower it...which I could easily do I just think I don't need it and they we're dumb to take blood after I ate.
