There is no such thing as the "pregnancy flu shot" they are all the same. The flu comes in three forms: a nasal mist which is a live virus and not recommended for pregnant women or those with asthma, the multi-dose injection which contains a small amount of preservative (but is still perfectly safe for pregnant women), and the single dose Injection which is what everyone refers to as "the pregnancy one" but really its available to everyone. All injectable flu vaccines are made with an attenuated or "dead" virus so its not possible to actually become ill from getting the flu shot. Those who do become ill have been previously exposed to an illness and their immune system just doesn't fight it off as effectively because its currently building antibodies against influenza. Just because you "don't usually get sick" doesn't mean you cant or won't get the flu. All it takes is exposure and during pregnancy your immune system is weakened to begin with. Also the flu is a deadly disease. Many people don't realize it but in the US alone the flu kills between 5,000-10,000 people every year. These people aren't just "sick" people, normally healthy people can also very easily succumb to complications caused by influenza.
I just got the flu and tdap (for whooping cough) today. Doc wanted to make sure it was in my system asap and told me to get hubby to get the same shots so that's what we're doing now! Gonna make my parents do the same for when my little one arrives!
The pregnancy flu shot is made of the dead virus so there is absolutely no way you can get the flu. When you are pregnant, you immune system is a lot weaker than normal. There have been woman that died from the flu cause they didn't get the shot. You also pass the immunity to the baby once he or she is born
I guess everyone is different. I didn't get at all. I got it twice & both time coincidentally had the flu after getting the flu shot. I don't believe in that crap, it just makes it worse.
I had them all the time in the military and never got the flu. Then I didn't get it once and got it. I would suggest it.
I've never had the flu. I just get all the little colds and virus's that go around. Typically I'm against the flu shot. But I want what's best for my baby. :/
Mine did to but i will not get the flu shot bc onve u get it then pretty much u will get the flu so i am not getting it
I had haver had one before either....but I got one and the tdap.
Oh you do get sick a lot? Well maybe you should. I just have strong feelings against it.
I wouldn't get one honestly. Its very harmful to the baby even if they say it's good. You've never gotten it before, & you've been healthy! Trust your body.
I didn't get one, i don't feel the need to get one since i hardly ever get sick.
Thankyou ladies so much! Im gonna get one.
Yes, you should(: your arm gonna be a lil sore that's it but it protects you and since babys can't get them it's best you get it while pregnant so it can protect him/her too.
Okay.I was just afraid of getting sick or anything.
Yes I got it and I've never had 1 before
