Gripe water or a little bit of mylanta in a bottle helps with gas. He may also have acid reflux that is causing him some discomfort. Sit him up in an angle after eating, and if that doesn't seem to work, call and ask the ped about prevacid. Works miracles!
Not all babies need to burp. Also try keeping up right for a bit after feedings to help keep his stomach settled. My newborn (she is now 3 months) did not like being in her crib at night, she was kindof a night owl. She slept better during the day. Over time I have got her aclamated to sleeping at night by keeping her up more during the day and having a routine for her before bed which helps relax her. Warm bath, massage with nighttime lotion, clean PT's and then feeding. I use the gas drops with her and they work really well. Sometimes if I can feel her body is tense I will put her stomach on my shoulder or put her stomach accross my legs while I'm rocking her and it helps her burp or toot and relaxes her. Good luck.
We used gripe water too.
Also, I didn't use formula but I know it has high levels of iron which can cause constipation. Maybe there is formula with lower iron?
Infacol is brilliant and safe for newborns..only thing that worked for our daughter. Good luck :)
Try gripe water..it was a godsend for my 3rd baby. Its all natural and you get it from walmart, Cvs, walgreens etc. Mylecon constipated all my kids and made things worse. Its a little pricey but very much worth it. Hope it works for your little one too.
Have you tried different positions to get him to burp?
