No. Wives' tales to determine gender have a 50% success rate - they're either right or wrong. The only way to find out for sure before an anatomy ultrasound is a blood test - MaterniT21 is one that's being used more frequently these days to definitively diagnose genetic disorders in high-risk patients. That being said, if you're not high risk your insurance will almost certainly refuse to pay for it since it would be completely elective. The cost varies of course but it looks like the testing costs somewhere in the range of $2000-3000 or $200-500 if your insurance will cover part of it. Seems to me like just waiting patiently until an anatomy ultrasound at 18-20 weeks is a far more reasonable choice.

I've done the baking soda and Chinese calender they both said boy I hope they're right.

there are little old wives tales you can do, but nothing is really a for sure answer. my husband & brother-in-law had me do the Chinese calendar, string & ring, and the urine mixed with baking soda. all of them came back saying boy, and I'm having a boy. you can do those of you want, but remember, it isn't certain until your anatomy scan!
