german measles

hi..im new here.. last april 4 i was diagnosed of having german measles coz i had rashes all over my body. it was never itchy(just felt hot) and never had a fever.. yesterday, i found out im pregnant..before i had german measles, i took 3 pregnancy tests which were all negative.. yesterday, i went to my ob after reading an article about german measles causing birth defects or miscarriage..i then found out that im pregnant..of course im happy about it but got scared.. my ob then said that since there were no lab tests to prove that i really had german measles, i should take a rubbella titer first.. i'll get the results tomorrow.. im so stressed.. havent slept last night..plus my husband doesnt like the baby coz he thinks i really had german measles.. i need someone to talk to..help please..

Yikes. Yes that can be very dangerous, I'm sorry to say it but rubella can cause some really awful birth defects. Your doctor will be able to give you lots more information but try not to stress until you have the results back from the titer to find out if that's really what it was. Hope it was a misdiagnosis and everything works out okay for you.

Prayers that the titer will come back negative.

Did you not have the MMR vax as a child?

I'm immune to rubella so I can easley pass it to my son. I was told just avoid small kids who were sick until after I give birth. I'm 34 weeks and he is perfectly fine.

It would only effect baby if you got it while you are pregnant. So if it was last April you have nothing to worry about.

Your husband doesn't like the baby?  If you already had measles before you were pregnant, the baby will be fine.
