I have twins in my class that have a sister in the same year group 9 months apart from them!!
Imagine that!! Dealing with three minis at once.
Just like any other preventative measure, it is NOT 100%......You should use a condom or something or talk to your Dr about other contraceptives that are safe while breastfeeding...
I have breastfed all 5 of my babies. And you can get pregnant while doing it. At some point you will begin ovulating again but when is anybody's guess. You won't know that you are ovulating again for sure until your period returns. And even when it does there is a very good chance that you won't be regular for a while. I have a 9 1/2 month old daughter and am still pumping; not often but I am. I have had a 29 day cycle since having her and I have had a 42 day cycle. Mine still aren't regular, but I know I am ovulating again due to having my periods so I have to be careful. Breastfeeding often delays when ovulation will return, but as to when, it is different with everyone.
it works sometime but not good enough to rely only on that.
I was always told that it worked as a natural birth control, but my cousin and one of my friends both got pregnant while breastfeeding, so I guess there is always the chance.
Yes and no. Breastfeeding releases chemical responses in your body that cause you to not ovulate. But in order for that to happen you have to nurse around the clock, and pumping isn't as effective as baby suckling.
Some women do get pregnant while nursing and don't find out for months since they don't have a period. I nursed for two months and it took another two months or so to get a period again. It will take time for a period to come back!
