The weight of the baby can compress ur blood vessels in ur back leading up to your brain and it can cause you to not get enough oxygen to the brain. I could only sleep on my back for a while and i was fine. I would try and lie on ur back but slightly to one side, i mean like lift one hip up so u are more diagonal than flat. this will relieve some of the pressure.
Oh thanks. What about a pillow under your back? Still just as bad?
It actually cuts off blood flow to baby also. My dr said that if you fall asleep on your side and wake up on your back its just your body saying hey turn over. I would probably not continue to sleep on your back. Its hard though I know. But if you put a pillow between youe knees it sorta helps. Just try to sleep on your side as much as possible.
I'm 30 weeks and sleep on my back still but eventually flip to my side and cuddle up to a body pillow. By far the best invention yet!
Im 10w2d is,it ok for me to sleep on my bck?
Yes at 10 weeks you are fine. Your baby weighs next to nothing right now.
Its normally ok to sleep on your back until about 24 weeks and then its suggested to sleep on your side.
I'm gonnna be 34 weeks and still sleep / lay on my back. as on poster said , I lay on my back but slightly to the side so I'm not directly on it, or prop up my shoulders with a pillow. and if I fall asleep on my side I always wake up on my back lol. I've tried but sleeping on my side is just so damn uncomfortable :-(
Agreed it is.. Its not easy by any means but what part of pregnancy is right?!? :)
Just pop an extra pillow or two. My doc even suggest roll up a towels and tuck under. I have been sleeping with three pillows for months now. Plus one to hug. My husband can't even get need me with all the pillows around, lol.
LOL I know its like a wall of pillows in the center of the bed lol and if its not pillows its the dog laying between us!!
It cuts off blood/oxygen supply to the baby. And yeah, cuddling with a body pillow makes slide sleeping SOO much more comfortable and it's easier to stay on your side. Only down-side is my husband thought that after my son was born in 2010 I'd get rid of it...nope! He has occasional jealousy issues with the pillow, lol.
I was always told to sleep on ur left side because it give plenty of oxygen for u n. baby!
Wow I didn't know this was bad either. Funny enough I used to never sleep on my back, always my side or stomach and here lately when I wake up to go to the restroom or because of the heat, I've been finding myself on my back. As far along as I am, I hope its not hurting my little guy!
