hand me downs

Has anyone else received hand me downs for your newborn that was used to the point the clothes were ripped? I mean I can afford clothes for.my daughter and I never asked them to buy my daughter anything. But why give a little baby used/torn clothes?

Sometimes I wonder what in the world people are thinking when they give away clothes that look like garbage. It's kind of offensive in my opinion. Its like people just assume you can't afford to buy new things and you're so desperate that you'll use rags to dress your baby because baby stuff is apparently sooo expensive. Well I beg to differ. I can afford a lot of stuff because I am a bargain shopper. I find awesome deals. Maybe it's just a first time mom thing but I want to buy all new stuff. I found a few nice things at a second hand store but I declined all of the boxes of used clothes I was offered. Well somehow one box still ended up in my house and the clothes were hideous! They looked like they were from the 80's! I would only give them to someone desperate. My little sister (with the same due date as me) is really snooty about baby clothes and would never use something that's already been worn and doesn't want any Carter's brand clothes (ridiculous right? I love Carter's) so I nicely wrapped up the scrappy clothes and gave them to her at her baby shower. I had a good laugh. She had to fake that she liked them until she saw me laughing like a hyena lol. Just make the best of the ripped or raggedy clothes. Use them as burp cloths or clean your bathroom with them.

Well some people give you the baby clothes because their child grew out of them quick...I have tons of brand new clothes that people have given me because their baby didn't have a chance to wear them...I also have some given to me that we worn one time....I washed them all and the ones I couldn't get the stains out of I threw away....I too have money to buy my daughter clothes...which I've been doing but it does help to save money on clothing.....as for ripped that's something new to me....I wouldn't take or give anything in that condition.

My friends girlfriend is trying to give me a bunch of stuff that is gross...I take it and say thanks, but just donate it to good will or toss it....its a nice gesture, but if they're gross...just keep it lol

My mom has gotten me so many clothes from yard sales, I got a bunch from a girl I went to school with, my grandma bought a bunch, and my aunt gave me a ton from her twin girls. Being that there were so many, my mom made me throw out the ones I didn't want. It was mostly because they live in Missouri and I'm in Oregon so she didn't want to spend a ton to ship clothes I didn't want.

I have quite a few hand me downs or clothes i bought from other people. I only have a few with stains but they can just wear it at the house n stain it up even more and they are only white onsies really. some even have tags still. So i definitely don't mind them but i wouldn't put my baby in something that looked disgusting n torn! I would just throw em away. :/ lol

I got lots of baby clothes from my cousin and his wife but they were like new and so still had the rags on them Only one of the outfits had a stain on it but it was a small stain.
