baby girl name

I'm having my second little girl in a little over two months and we've having a really hard time   choosing her name. My first daughters name is Emily. Last night we came up with Elyssa, which i really like. My worries are that people will mispronounce it. The way i say it when i see it is with a short e sound, i do not want the long e sound. How do you pronounce this name? I went with the e so both my girls would stay with an e.

When I read it on your post, I read it as E-lissa (long E, like e-mail).  Sorry.  Were you aiming for the e sound like in Ellen? Maybe if you spelled it with a second l, Ellyssa, it might make it more obvious.
