Luckily my cat is outside inside cat with a kitty door. and doesn't use a litter box. You gotta watch out for your bottles with cats though. If you have one on the counter they will tear that nipple open to taste that milk everytime. Sometimes my daughter willwake up at night cuz the cat goes in there and lays in her bed

you can get toxoplasmosis from their poop so try to have someone else change your litterbox. If your stuck with someone like my baby daddy who says he will do it and never does, splurge for scoopable litter and a pooper scooper. I rescued a cat back in january, i was 6 weeks. In the last four months my baby daddy changed her box approximately 4 times, I scoop it into a plastic grocery bag, throw it in the trash then wash my hands really good. I am currently 23+6 and my baby's perfectly fine. They also say to watch for cats trying to lick the milk off babies faces and suffocating them, which i think is a wives tale. I dont have to worry about that because my cat doesnt like milk she only drinks water, i cant get her to drink milk if i give it to her.

Hey. I have 8 cats, and work with animals everyday. When I was first pregnant everyone kept telling me that the animals had to go. It was so annoying. Anyway the cats are still at home with me, I've set up the Moses basket so they can get used to it, and I can stop them going in it before the baby arrives. I've still been doing the litter and still work with the animals at work, I'm just extra careful with hygiene. Good luck. X

Also dont get scratched. Kittens love to claw. Make ur partner the one that plays with it. Micro bugs live in poop and cats like to cover their poop. And it gets in the claws. Just remember that :) otherwise u should be fine :)

I have 3 cats. Don't change the litter box. Have someone else do that. My doctor said having a cat is fine. They've pounced on my stomach once or twice but there's so much cushioning in there for baby they can't hurt her.

From what i remember from microbiology not only should you wear gloves but also a mask. When the cats waste dries in the litter then u scoop it well it becomes airborne on the dust particles and you can breath it in.

Cats do not try to smother babies lol. I'm choosing to keep my cat locked out of my bedroom at night b/c she likes to cuddle and if my little man has allergies like me he doesn't need to be around my cat. The risks of cats are solely their litter box. If your cat eats meat raw or mice they could cone into contact with a parasite which they pass through their feces and if the litter isn't handled properly and you accidently consume it you could get toxoplasmosis. Which is very harmful to your unborn child. Best way to avoid it is to have your partner or a friend or family change and clean the litter box. My cat never has come into contact with raw meat or mice or birds but my husband still is incharge of the litter box.

......cats tend to like to lay on chests or like the feeling of being in a secluded place (cribs, bassinettes, play pens, etc,) Just make sure you keep an eye on the cat with the baby after you bring baby home. Get a water pistol and spray cat anytime it goes in an undesirable place where baby will me (crib, etc) I found my silly cat sitting in the car seat the other morning....I took a picture but then make hit get out. I am also getting a baby monitor with the video so I can make sure my silly cat doesn't jump in the crib.

Have someone else clean the litter box....if you cant have someone else do it, wear gloves and immediately was your hands afterwards before touching your face. Also try to wash your hands after you handle the kitty too. You can also have your cat tested for toxoplasmosis (blood test) to see if it is a carrier. I have worked as a vet tech for many years and just took precautions when it came to handling dirty litter and cats. I also own two cats and am the only person to clean after them....again I just glove up and wash thoroughly. I also wipe down any surfaces that I may use that they have been on (even though they know better!!).
