Well ladies, that tattoo is a no go. : ( I went to bring the man my design and it said it would not work. He told me that it would have to be huge in order for Cooper's name and the Cardinal to fit together. I am so bummed, I called around and they told me the same thing and plus I don't just want to go anywhere. So, it looks like I will have to find another tribute. I am crushed I wanted to do this so badly.
Thanks for supporting me and my decision ladies!!!
Yes, a tattoo is safe as long as the artist is using correctly steralized equipment and new needles. Usually they'll show you the needles in the wrapper before they insert them into the gun.
I have my son's footprints and birthday on my right shoulder.
Thanks everyone!! I got my design all ready to go, so I think I might go this weekend!! I am going to make sure I get all the info from the tattoo artist before they stick me!!!
Thanks for all your support!!
I think is a GREAT idea!! Our first child, Chandler, lived for almost 4 hrs. He had a heart defect and he would have been 5 yrs old this past May. In Dec. of 2003, my husband got a tattoo of the "praying hands" in between his shoulders blades and Chandler scripted at the bottom. It looks good even after 5 yrs! I was going to get sumthin in memory of our baby boy @ the same time, but I didn't have my driver's license w/ me and I was so pissed. I couldn't believe I left them @ home. At the time, there was not a single tattoo parlor in South Carolina, so we were in Georgia! It really sucked and we were SUPPOSED to go back, but seems like I've been pregnant ever since! lol We've had 2 more boys, a m/c, and now a lil girl on the way so.....after McKynzie is born tho, I think we may just have to plan on going so that I can FINALLY get a tattoo in memory of Chandler.
I think your tattoo idea is wonderful to honor your little man. Like Lady Tiger described, it feels like a cat scratch (a constant scratch over the area your getting it! lol). I have a tattoo on my upper back and I was afraid I wouldn't be able to do it. But it really isn't as bad as I thought. I have heard, tho, that it depends on where you get it. Some areas on your body are more sensitive than others. I don't think there are any problems with getting it while TTC. It would actually be wise to speak with the tattoo artist about it just to make sure. If they are professional and know their craft well, they will be able to answer all your questions!
I also love your story about the cardinal. My family has a similar one for my grandfather and butterflies. It's very comforting to see these signs when our hearts our aching for a love one we've lost.
I think that is a beautiful idea, go for it!
I think it is a lovely idea to get a tattoo to remember your Angel. I have 2 tattoo's and I don't think they are trashy at all. Like LadyTiger said though, just make sure that you check out the persons work before letting them ink you. I went to about 4-5 different parlors before I finally found someone I trusted enough to do a good job. Also like she said it really isn't that painful at all it just feels like someone scratching you over and over again and after like 5 minutes it just gets numb and you don't really feel it anymore. Best of luck I can't wait to see the end result I think it will turn out BEAUTIFUL!
Aww, my daughter still has 'her first' tatoo planned for her missing little angel. She never got to grow him much, but her love was so strong even though he made it only months in her tummy. Moms of angels must think alike :-) I love the idea, and the cardnal story, WoW! I will love to see the results when you get it done. I think it's precious.
yes if you handled 26 hours of labor you can handle anything......have fun with it and get beautiful colors and buy some triple antibotic ointment ......you dont want it to scab over ...when it i scab's over it fulls the color out if you pick the scab's off.....i understand that you arent going to a jail house to get it just ask the person to show you some pictures of the work they have done and make sure it looks good.....
Thank you and thanks for describing the pain..... I think I can handle it if it only feels like a cat scratch!! I survived 26 hours of labor so I should be able to handle this... right?!
Don't worry I won't be visting the jailhouse to get it!!!
Hey Rachel...im sorry about your little Angel.....as for the tatoo it is safe i have 7 of them...they dont give you drugs or anything to get one so it is safe....as far how it feels its like a cat scratch at first then the area gets red and them numb so to me there was no pain thats why i have so many....Good luck to you .....and no one should think that you are trashy as long as it is done by a professional and not a jail house person....so have fun with it and good luck...
