home testing

This is kind of a poll:

For those of you who have conceived and had positive hpts, what was the earliest you ever got a positive one?  My cousin told me she got a positive hpt 2 weeks after intercourse, while my sister in law didn't get a positive until she was more than 7 weeks along.

I had a faint positive test 3 days before AF was due, that same day I took the digital that came up NOT PREGNANT (it was my annviersary so I thought it would be a nice surprise).  Then I waited to test the day after AF was due because i started getting crampy and thought AF was coming.  Hubby actually urged me to test, I was going to wait a week because my cycles had always been messed up - but got an immediate positive and PREGNANT.  But, with my first pregnancy I tested after being a week late and it was negative - well my period never came and then 2 1/2 weeks after that I ended up in the ER and was miscarrying.  I'm not at all saying that is going to happen, just saying that I did get a negative test and was pregnant.  Also, doctors start your pregnancy the first day of your last period - so techincally when you are one day late for AF you are already 4 weeks pregnant.  So techincally I was 4 weeks pregnant when I found out.  Best of luck to you!

Thank you everyone!  I wish I knew when af was supposed to be.  I feel stupid not knowing, but having come off the pill and with life being crazy I just haven't paid attention at all.

I took a First Response hpt with first morning urine today, 25 days after intercourse, and it was negative.  I'm starting to feel more confident that the negative is accurate, but don't know if it could still be too early.  I would think by now my hormone levels would be detectable by a sensitive early test, but you never know. (I'll be if my abdomen wasn't so bloated I wouldn't "feel" so unsure about it.  Funny how the mind can play tricks).

Anyone out there that tested negative at first and then didn't test positive until they were more than 4 or 5 weeks pregnant?

I'm sure I would have gotten a positive sooner but I didn't test until I was 3 days late. I just didn't have a test on hand. That's the most recent pregnancy.

With my first pregnancy I was 19 and wasn't trying to get pregnant. I tested a week late.

With my second pregnancy I tested a few days before my period was due and got a faint BFP (miscarriage).

With my third daughter I tested a day or two early and got a FAINT positive.

Thanks for all these answers (and congrats Mea426!)
This makes me feel a tiny bit more confident that my negative test is really negative.  My cycle is erratic from coming off the pill, so I can't count on a regular 28 day schedule.  Intercourse was 24 days ago, so I'm either already late for af or within days of it.

I got my positive 5 days before my period...and I had intercourse 12 days before hand...so, someone could test positive two weeks after intercourse if the timing was right with ovulation etc.  AND someone could take longer to get a positive depending on their body...

I got a positive at 11 days past ovulation, which would have been 4-5 days before my period.
