34+4

I'm 34+3 and my cervix is dilated to a 2 and my cervix is already 50+% effaced...  I've been in preterm labor since Sept. 21 and have already had my steroid shots in case I delivered... I know the baby needs to stay in, but in my pervious pregnancies within a week of starting dilation I've delivered... Is it still to dangerous to have my baby?

My younger brother was born at 32 weeks and is now a national sports representative at 14 years old....he was/has always been super healthy with no issues whatsoever so I think you'll be fine :-)

At 32+3 he weighed 4lbs 2oz... I'm sure he's gained more weight since then and he's above his size and weight for this far along... So I know based on that his survival rate goes up slightly but I'm still scared about ending up in the nicu... I've never had any problems like this with my other kids... I had a little bloody show last night but nothing since and I'm afraid I'm not going to make it to 35 weeks just based on how well I know my body...

I'm in a very similar situation and my dr said he would be very happy if I could get to 34wks but if I can hold on a little longer he will do a csection at 36wks. He told me at 34wks baby has a 95% survival rate and after that we're just buying days off nicu. At 36wks the lungs are still are little immature but fully developed. My son was botn at 35wks due to the same complications and he only required 1wk nicu, but as the lady above said it depends on a lot of things like size, weight, gender. Wishing you and baby lots of luck!

I think from about week 29 your baby has an outstanding survival rate. I could imagine at almost 35 weeks you will be absolutely fine. It also depends on the babies size and health though but I think it's about a 98% survival rate for anything beyond 32 weeks. Although I am not a doctor or nurse so I don't really know.
