For me it makes the contractions more frequent, and it helps alot when you get induced. With me my contractions were 2 minutes apart but I wasn't dialating so they induced me to make me dilate and within an hour I was hold my son.
For me, my regular contractions were managable and I feel like the pitocin forces contractions to become too painful too fast vs if they went natural my body would have handled them better as my body chose to progress me. Idk if that makes sense to you. But I have a low pain tolerance and still went natural so its awful but still manageable.
