My son is a month old and does the same thing. He has reflux too though. I let him eat from me for only a half hour to an hour and then I feed him formula and within that one bottle he gets full or falls asleep. What yours does that mine does too also is sucking for comfort. It's a pain for me too cause my son won't take a pacifier which would make things so much easier.
They make nipple guard that go over tour aeorla andnipple that helps with the pain a little
When will he stop feeding every 2-3 hours? Hes been doing it since birth and man its such an effort, especially when im the only one that can feed him
I think so IM ftm only 20 weeks and 3days but my mom said she only could breastfeed me for 3 months then she was forced to use bottle cuz she stopped producing milk
Im going to keep on breastfeeding, keep trying anyway, gave him 2 bottles during the night and my boobs feel full horayy! Just worried about my nipples, is there anything else that i can do to help?:/
I had the same problem. My daughter would not latch properly for about a week and a half after she was born so I would pump when I was too sore and try to latch her in between. I tried that Lansinoh stuff too and while it helped a little I actually got more relief from squeezing a bit of my milk out and rubbing it on my nipples. After I finally got her latching right, my milk ducts dried out. Anything she was eating was making her throw up, and there was so much air in her that she was gassy and fussy which was not fun. Needless to say, I switched to formula after that and she's slept around 10-12 hours through the night since the switch so there was my silver lining. Just don't give up on it yet! Keep going even though its tough its worth it
If you're pumping then you could either just need more time or pumping might not work out with you. Try easing into it by pumping once a day and breast feeding the rest of the feedings and slowly pumping more each day. Breast is always best though. A baby can suck harder than a breast pump can therefore will be able to get more milk than a pump can. Your body will make as much milk as your baby needs as long as your drinking enough water (drink at least a glass with every feeding and in between feedings) and eating right. Sometimes pumping just doesn't work for some people. I honestly found it to be way more work than strictly breast feeding. But stick it out you can do it.My nipples were so cracked and bleeding after a month of breast feeding so I took about a month off and pumped and then went back to Brest feeding again and it worked out perfectly. Eventually you don't feel a single thing and its so much easier. I ended up breast feeding my daughter for a year and then went straight to whole milk :)
I know from experience that this can happen. with my son I breast fed him or I thought I was feeding him but come to find out my breast ducts had closed( those are the tubes and holes where the milk come from) my son ended up having colic because he was not receiving enough milk in from him sucking on my empty breast he had gas from all the air he was sucking in the in. you should have your doctor check your breast just to be safe.
He just vomiitted majority of the milk up ive fed him ughh all that pain for nothing ! Giving him formula for the rest of the night:/ my nipples are sore red and cracked.. Been layering on lansinoh ointment but it isnt helping :(
Hold on for a little longer if you can, you're giving the best start for your little one! It will get easier in a week or two + he will settle into a routine soon which will make it easier again!
If you can tough it out another week or 2, it gets better I promise! Your at the hard part right now.
Hes been awake for hours feeding non stop.. Probably another growth spurt .. I swear i can feel him getting heavier as the night goes on. I want to give up breastfeeding my nipples are damaged and tonight is so painful
It happened to a friend of mine after three Weeks took a week to get her son on the breast as it was she was so upset
If you started pumping you could need more time to build up your supply. Your body makes as much as it needs to, but it can take a little time to adjust to needing to make more. I would try some mothers milk tea, and possibly talk to a lactation consultant to see. If your baby is still wetting enough diapers then he is still getting what he needs, he may be going tgrough a growth spurt at the same time.
Hmm im not sure ill have to visit the drs... maybe its cause ive been pumping my milk lately ?
Happened to me as well coz my daughter was prem and never really got into feeding from my breast - so I excessively pumped for her and that's not the same. I went to the doctor tho with the decreasing volume of my milk and she prescribed me a tablet (donperidon I think) which side effect is that you have lots of milk. Probably your doc will be able to help you as well! If he's gaining weight he's definitely getting enough milk.
Also there are hungrier/greedier babies who need the extra "topping up" - usually a bit of formula milk after their normal feed - but talk to your health visitor, breastfeeding consultant, doctor about this coz sometimes it may confuses your baby.
Maybe it's a growth spurt? I'm sorry I can't help. I'm a ftm and only 15w. I just know that my mum had the same problem with me when I was a baby and I ended up on the bottle coz I wasn't getting any sleep due to not being full. I've read some other girls on her adding rice cereal or something to bulk up feed's, but don't quote me on that lol
Im confused cause its not like he has stopped feeding as frequently he still feeds every 2-3 hours.. Still eat the same i did 3 weeks ago .. In fact i eat better than i did back then.. Drink plenty of water .. Nehhh im sad haha :(
I've heard of that happening. It happened to my mum, I had to be bottle fed at night so i would sleep. Sometimes it's a nutrition thing? Good luck tho
