2 negative HPTs, but still no period?

Hello everyone, I posted on here a few days ago when I took the first HPT (which was negative).
I'm 30 and my last period started on Nov. 15.
I had protected sex (condoms) on Nov. 20 and Dec. 8 (so on the 6th and the 24th day of my cycle).
My cycles are in average around 27 days long, but my period often come 2-3 days before or after day 27.
My shortest cycles this year were 25 days and my longest (in Sept.) was 31 days long.
I took my first HPT last Wed. on day 30 of my cycle and it was NEGATIVE.
I took another HPT this morning on day 34 and it was NEGATIVE, but still no signs or symptoms that my period is going to show up (usually my breasts are swollen from 1 week to 4 days before my period starts, but right now that isn't happening).
How long should I wait before I take another HPT or should I just get a blood test?
Starting to panic a little now.... :-|

FWIW, I've gone as long as 40 days without a cycle, esp. under stress. This happens once, maybe twice a year and I feel hormonal and confused the entire time; it's like an extra week or two of PMS. I'm normally more like 30-31.

Honestly, I suspect you are NOT pregnant, most likely just stressed or fighting off an illness. Another possibility is anovulatory cycle -- just didn't drop an egg this month for whatever reason. It happens occasionally. You had protected sex, and unless you ovulate quite a bit earlier or later than most women, the dates you mentioned are not all that likely to result in pregnancy. (Most women ovulate around 14 days from their LMP).

You MIGHT have done the blood test too early, but most women would have shown up positive by now. Did they do a quantitative (measures how much HcG is in your system) or qualitative (straight yes or no)?

It was quantitative < 2 mUI/mL.

The only thing is that I am not stressed AT ALL, enjoying my job at the moment....I am healthy.....maybe I am just scared of being pregnant because I am not in a stable relationship. Maybe that played tricks with my cycle, could that be?

Thank you for your help, I appreciate it. :-)

I was going insane and decided to go and get a blood test this morning.
It came back negative!
Today is day 36 of my cycle and still no period or signs that it will come anytime soon, no swollen breasts or anything that usually happens before my periods.
The last time I had PROTECTED sex was Dec. 8, so that would be 12 days ago. Do you think it was too early to get the blood test done?
I do realize that I am sounding a little paranoid by now. But although my periods are irregular, I don't recall ever having a cycle that lasted forever like this one....
Not sure what to do next. Any suggestions?
Thank you so much, for all your help. :-)

That's great! I am happy for you Heatherm4. :-)
I am not TTC right now though. It is definitely difficult to know what's going on since my periods are irregular like that. But, like you said, I will wait another few days and test again. Will try my best not to panic too much in the meantime (saying this just to see if I can convince myself LOL).
Thank you for your help, I really appreciate it.

Hmm...wait a few more days and test again. When TTC your body can play many tricks on you. Since you aren't as regular, it could very well be just a long cycle. Or if there was maybe some late ovulation then you could be testing too early. Guessing is always the hardest part when your cycles are all over the place. I had cycles like that too before I had my son. I had a cycle that went to about 37 days once...drove me crazy. I started taking evening primrose oil after having my son to get a bit more regular because my cycles went to being like that and it kind of helped near the end and I was able to track a bit better. Now I'm 12 weeks with #2!
Good luck!! :)
