I've got 7 weeks left with my pregnancy and I'm still unsure about getting the epidural. Thi. Is my fourth pregnancy and the first three were all natural, however with me planning on this being my very last pregnancy I thought it'd be nice to just enjoy the last hours of being pregnant. However, pushing a baby out scares me less than a needle going in my spine, anyone have any advice for coping if I do decide to get it?

My first to pregnancies were natural. My third I decided to get the epidural. ...I was really nervous about the needle too, but all my friends and family told me to just go for it. .... let me tell you girl. ... there was no looking back. Had one with my fourth and plan on having one this time too. It's really not that bad, just a pinch. .. if you can go through natural child birth you can handle a  epidural, but that's your decision to make. Good luck and best wishes!

I got it with my first at 8 cm. I got to sleep my last two hours and woke up with the urge to push. I felt everything including the stitches it just wasn't painful and I got to enjoy my last two hours. Some have good experiences while others have bad. I have the same plan as last time and that's to go as long as I can without medicine but if I want it I will get it and enjoy it.

Everyone I know got it,  and reccomends that I get it. Except my mom! She did not have it with her first, but had it with me and she hated it. She said it took away her urge to push, and made her lower body useless. The doctors had to hold her legs up in position and she felt like her legs were tingly, like the annoying my feet fell asleep feeling. So it really depends on you and your pain level. Im still undecided but im only 9 weeks 2 days so I have a while to make up my mind!

I got it with my first pregnancy. I had told them I didn't want it then hard labor hit and I changed my mind. I'm pregnant again only 5 weeks to go and I still haven't made up my mind. Its scary! The dr doesn't make it any better by telling the nurse's to hold me still because even if I flinch the slightest bit I could be paralyzed.  Then I couldn't feel to push so they ended ip having to turn my med wayyyyy down so I could feel the pain soo kinda pointless in my case but still they pain was slightly more bearable after I got it then before. Thats just my experience.  If you do get it just try not to think about it they let me hold my husband while i got it that helsped. And silly me I was young I thought it was a shot I was upset they left the needle in me than made me feel uneasy.
