39 weeks and terrible upper back/shoulder pain

I am 39 weeks tomorrow.  Last night I was up all night with a terrible aching pain in my upper back and right shoulder.  I could only lay on my left side and that still didn't bring relief, it just didn't make it worse.  I took Tylenol, which was no help either.  I am still in agony and I have an appt today but I am going to call when they open and try to get in earlier.  Anyone have pain like this before and what did it turn out to be? I read it can be a sign of pre-eclampsia, which I never had before.  My urine and swelling have been fine, but my hubby made me take my bp this morning and it is running very very high for me, which could be the anxiety from the pain as well.  I feel overall pretty miserable and not right, but I don't know if that's just from not sleeping all night. (On top of Chinese food for dinner).

It was pre-eclampsia combined with early labor.

They might if they look in the right area. Not all gallbladder attacks our problems are due to stones, sludge that builds up in the camion bile duct can also cause problems, but an u/s would should thickening or swelling. Most likely stones though.

Thank you!  A couple months ago, around halfway through the pregnancy I had severe pains in my upper abdomen on 2 separate occasions.  My Dr. and I both chalked it up to gas even though my mom said it sounded just like her gallbladder attack.  I have never had a problem with it before and haven't had that pain since.  I have been having u/s every week because the baby is small, I wonder if they would see gallstones on the u/s?

It could actually be your gallbladder. Have you had problems with it before? I guess, do you still have yours? It's called referred pain. The gallbladder pain often is felt I the right shoulder and upper back. Let your doc  what's going on and avoid fatty or greasy foods. Good luck!
