negative blood type

Okay, so I'm a negative blood type and 32 weeks pregnant. I have gotten the shot required to be sure my body doesn't attack my baby girl and all seems well. (Worst shot from hell I've ever received though.) But I am now hearing that there may be risks of my child becoming anemic due to our different blood types? Has anyone else come across this, and are there any ways to avoid that from happening?

Thank you! So glad to hear this. I was so worried, I'm a first time mother so this is all quite new to me.

The shot is called rhogam.. basically your body will consider your fetus a foreign invader and will make the body try to get rid of the baby.. your body isnt able to recognize that your baby isnt a threat.. the rhogam shot is to ensure that your body doesnt fight the baby off.. and other future pregnancies..

That won't happen. Don't stress. And until baby is born you can't be sure she has a different blood type. I am also rh-, all that happens now is that you will need another shot after you deliver to ensure your body doesn't attack any future babies you may have.
I completely agree about that shot being the worst though. I got it and had to go to work straight after. Which is a 2 mile walk and 5 mile bus ride from the hospital. Fair to say my leg was agony for the rest of the day.

What? Baby wont become anemic. The shot only stops YOUR cells from creating antibodies so that it doesnt abort every baby after your first.
