If doctor's suspect a mother is under the influence they will test the baby's blood. If they find any substance in the baby's system CPS is called and the baby is put into foster care.

Your best bet, if you're smoking, is to talk to your doctor so they can help you BEFORE baby is born. Once they're born all bets are off.

Luvkayln~ obviously the baby would test positive because the mother smokes it.

i live in ct, and what would happen here is the baby would be taken away in cps and placed away from you for a month or two and court would have you give clean urine tests. hope it helps =]

generally the doctor will contact cps and they will due an investagtion. they will not take a newborn away if all it test positive for marajuna. however they will moniter you and they baby. at least thats what happened to my friend and this is in wa state so different states may have different outcomes hope this helps

why would a newborn test positive for marijuana? well my guess would be the doctor or nurse in charge of the newborns care would call child protective services and an investigation would be conducted.
