I have my done and my midwife told me that I have to take them out while feeding. I can continue to put them back in if I want but it's a choking hazard, can cause problems with the latch and can damage baby's gums and palate because it's so malleable. I've had mine done for a few years so I'm hoping they don't heal over and it l still have them when I stop breast feeding but am taking them out when my son gets here and if they heal over I won't repierce them because it causes scar tissue which can cause problems later down the road.

I had mine done for nearly 2 years before I jad my first, I was planning to take it out in pregnancy but it sliped my mind, when I gave birth to my daughter they went to put her on me to feed but my ring was in so I had my partner and midwife tryna get it off haha. . Was so embarrassing cause my mum was in the room too :/.. all they told me was that I need to take it out for every feed, I didnt put it back in until I was done breastfeeding, surprisingly the hole was still open... they said it can have bacteria and stuff cause its an open hole or something, we had no issues though... this time I took it out at 10 weeks and will be putting it back after breastfeeding hoping its still open... I dont think theres anything to bad with it..

I am actually a body piercer and if u want them pierced after baby is born that's fine but u won't be able to breastfeed until after they are healed which takes about 1-2weeks so I would wait until you are done breastfeeding but if u get them and find out your pregnant u can keep them until it is time to start breastfeeding then they need to come out but this actually makes breastfeeding a little easier for baby cuz milk comes out of the piercing holes and the tip of the nipple and I speak from work experience and also personal experience! Hope this helps!

I had them and found out i was expecting and took them out .. wouldnt wanna be putting metal/bacteria in his mouth since i wanna breast feed. And no place should be piercing you while pregnant specially there.

A reputable piercing place wont pierce you while youre pregnant, if you already have it done though it will be fine during pregnancy but has to be removed for breastfeeding so there is no risk of baby choking if it came loose :)
