no heartbeat

I'm 21 years old and pregnant with my first child. I went to the dr today to ahave an ultrasound. We guessed I was around ten weeks, but the ultrasound said 7 weeks, 3 days. I could be mistaken about my last period, so the 7 weeks could be correct, but there was no heart beat. I had to give blood for hcg tests and have to go back day after tomorrow for more. Has anyone had this happen and the baby actually be living? Is that even a possibility?

I plan on waiting to see if I bleed or anything. My mom, who is a nurse, said she's seen a woman come in at 8 weeks and they couldn't find a heart beat, she came back at 12 weeks because the baby never expelled through her system and they found a heart beat. She told me to request another ultrasound if I don't have any other miscarriage symptoms in a week or so.

I'd wait if I were  you. Don't take any pills and don't let them do D&C unless you are 100% sure you miscarried. Especially with you not being able to remember the dates of your period, and ultrasound measurements not always being accurate. Hoping for good news for you <3

You may be off on your dates. I thought I was 8weeks from my LMP. but idk it's weird it doesn't always work out like that. Anyways I went in for my 1st u/s & they could not find any heartbeat. They just said there was a yolk sac. The Dr. was saying I might have a blighted ovum. So ya inwas freaking out & everything. Being this is my 1st pregnancy. I did a bunch of blood test & at 1st my blood test for my HCG levels came back low then it was high. Well I had my 2nd u/s & I seen my lil baby's heart beat & heard it :) yesterday I asked for another cuz I was worried so for my peaked of mind they gave me another & I got to heart my babys heartbeat again. So keep ur faith & I'll be praying everything is goes good for you :) oh & also when I did my u/s I measured at 6weeks.

I am so sorry.  Miscarriages can be so difficult.  Yes, to answer your question, this happens frequently in the miscarriage world.  Chances are your little one passed at 7 weeks 3 days, but your body did not recognize it.   Most women will pass the baby on their own when a miscarriage happens, but some don't.  This may be what's happening to you.  In this event induction is sometimes required or a surgical procedure called a D&C to remove everything from you.  If there was no heartbeat, there is no chance of the baby being alive.  I am so very sorry.  I have been there as a healthcare professional and as a mama myself.  Hugs to you.
