no sleep at night for me

For the past few days my newborn (2w yesterday) hasn't been sleeping in his nighttime chair. It's one of those tilted vibrating chairs that plays soothing noises. He will only sleep on my chest at night, once i put him down he'll gradually fuss until it turns into full obviously wailing. He's fine when i put him down during the day it's only at night when i lay down for bed.. could newborns be scared of the dark or something?

Try to have noise in the room at night, a tv or fan? My sister had the same problem. Once she would leave something on, he slept

Maybe the movement wakes him try having everything off. Also try rubbing his stomach or patting his back to get him back to sleep.

I keep a lamp on for her and she knows the difference between day and night.  It's not a big deal.
My daughter did the same thing.  She's 3 months  now.

It's important for newborns to get on a schedule when you sleep and only take 2-3 naps a day for a few hours at a time. my doctor said that a bath or warm lotion before be will help soothe them and then you'll want to make sure they're swaddled and when you put them down for the night, don't let them fall asleep with you because they'll always depend ON YOU to fall asleep and refuse to be put down alone. you can stand by the crib or bassinet and rub your baby and hum to them until they are fast asleep(:
hope this helps!

Well at my hospital,  in the nursey,  they sleep with the lights on. I keep a little lamp on in my daughters room. Every time it's dark, she cries. Maybe buy s little lamp and see if that helps

I had a bassinet the lightly vibrated and played soothing music. We ended up getting help from a sleep specialist and she said all that was distracting and keeping him awake. She suggested having a consistent bedtime routine (bath, book, bed). Newborns also like to be swaddled/wrapped and don't worry about leaving a lamp on for them as its important they get used to daytime and night time and have also just come from a reasonably dark place. We followed this and our little guy is a champion sleeper even 13mths later so i hope you can get some good from it otherwise find what works for you and your little one. Good luck!
