natural birth/mid wifes??

First pregnancy - I'm determined to have a natural birth. I'm very interested in having a midwife with me at the hospital with me or possibly doing a water birth. Thoughts and opinions?

Just keep an open mind and know that not everything always goes your way. Best advice anyone ever gave me. I was the same way. Went to all the classes, had an amazing support system, things didn't go my way and I got the epi. Doing it with an epidural is just as amazing as doing it natural in my opinion. Good luck

This is your first baby I just had mine and was considering natural birth but when I went into labour the contractions were the most pain I have ever experienced I couldn't go thru with non medication it all seemed good in theory at first

A. I would not be absolutely determined. Recognize that unavoidable things happen during pregnancy that could cause a non-natural birth. I know that has caused women to go into depression because they were so set on a natural birth. B. It's a great goal and a midwife will defiantly be supportive. I don't know of any hospital that will allow water births.
