I read on webmdBABY that pacifiers lower your risk of SIDS. Idk how but that's what I read. My daughter is 6wks and uses on to go to sleep and during changes. I plan to start slowly weaning her off at 6mos so by 1 she's off it. I hate seeing toddlers with pacifiers in their mouths lol.
Get one piece instead of two piece pacifiers could be a choking hazard and change them often because babies suck hard and the plastic can fall off and also become a hazard some babies can become too dependent on pacifiers other then that they can benifit your baby but im not sure if im going to use them yet its a decision I havent made yet
Some people think they are the devil. I don't. I waited till my milk came in and about two seconds later gave my son one. :) He is now 18 months and about done with it. He only asks for it if he is loosing his mind tired and trying to get over a tantrum. Which...is rare. I'd say he is down to having it for 10 minutes a few times a week. From the first day I gave it to him I made sure he only got it if was just wanting to 'suck' to sooth himself. I never gave it to him when he was hungry. So...I think it may have helped him in the long run to not have any nipple confusion or real attachment to it. He is attached to his blanky though :)
It's really up to you, I tried it with my son, a few different brands, and he never took to any kind of them, my SIL's baby took to them awesome, and she uses them frequently. I would limit it so she doesn't get too attached, and make sure you take it away at about a year if she still has it by then. My son used to ALWAYS want something in his mouth, so he'd eat a ton and pacifiers would've been great if he'd take them. I'd say go for it, and try it!
