yes its normal. It started to feel like pinching and stabbing at 20w and got worse by 30w. It then began to feel heavy and swollen.I'm now 36w and when i walk it feels like im getting cut up there.

Is it like a burning sensation?  It could be an infection which,is very common in pregnant woman. Call your doctor and see if he/she can prescribed you something.
